As an Emmy Award-winning editor on The Office, Claire’s intuitive understanding of comedy and timing naturally carried her from the cutting room into the director's chair. Claire cultivated a definitive point of view as a director, honing a precision in shooting the essential elements and focusing on collaborating with her cast to get the very best – and the most funny – material on screen.
Claire has directed some of the most celebrated and critically-acclaimed comedy series including Abbott Elementary, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, The Good Place, The Mindy Project, Modern Family, Fresh Off the Boat, Black-ish, Suburgatory, GLOW, Social Distance, Making History and Never Have I Ever.
Claire’s directing work also includes Loot, starring Maya Rudolph; Palm Royale, starring Kristen Wiig, Allison Janney, and Laura Dern; and Acapulco, all for Apple TV+. She also directed and executive-produced Unstable, starring Rob Lowe, for Netflix, and St. Denis Medical, for NBC.
As a feature film director, she tells aspirational stories, such as her debut feature Set It Up starring Glen Powell, and The People We Hate at the Wedding, starring Kristen Bell, Academy Award winner Allison Janney, and Tony Award winner Ben Platt. Claire feels a keen responsibility to show not just the world at its funniest, but at its very best, by inclusively representing everyone in it. Claire just directed The Love Hypothesis for Amazon MGM Studios, adapted from Ali Hazelwood’s bestselling novel, following a Stanford biology PhD candidate and a professor who enter a fake relationship.
Claire’s unique skill set – from knowing what works and what doesn’t to recognizing and finding the perfect rhythm of performance – can be seen across her prolific work in television, features, and commercials, including her campaign for the Jack Daniel’s/NBA partnership.
