The Disappearance of Eleanor Rigby
As a writer-director, Ned’s character-driven films show us that the most intimate and personal stories can also be told in the biggest and most cinematic ways.
Whether it’s a Marvel superhero, played by Scarlett Johansson, reconnecting with her estranged adoptive family in the blockbuster Black Widow, which Ned wrote, or a married couple portrayed by Jessica Chastain and James McAvoy, struggling to stay together, presented across three separate films with different points of view in the dramatic triptych, The Disappearance of Eleanor Rigby: Her, Him and Them, all of which Ned wrote and directed, and as a trilogy premiered at the Cannes Film Festival. Ned’s next feature film is The Greatest Hits, a magical realist love story, which he also wrote, exploring one man’s peculiar sensitivity to music, starring Lucy Boynton, for Searchlight Pictures.
As a commercial director, Ned’s unique ability to anchor innovative visuals to stirring emotional experiences can be seen – and felt – across his campaigns, such as his work for Cadillac, celebrating the identity, history and integrity of the storied brand, and what it means to sit behind the wheel of one of their cars. Ned has helmed campaigns for Infiniti, featuring NBA star Steph Curry, and for the Creative Spirit program.
